RONNY KRIPPNER was born in Bavaria and studied organ playing and improvisation with Prof. Franz-Josef Stoiber at the “Hochschule für Kirchenmusik” in Regensburg. Other areas of his study were piano, choral and orchestral conducting, singing, music theory and Gregorian chant.
During his time in Regensburg, he was working as Assistant Choirmaster of the “Regensburger Domspatzen” (“Regensburg Cathedral Sparrows”), the famous Boys’ Choir of Regensburg Cathedral. His duties there focused on the various preparatory choirs which help the boys preparing vocally and musically for the Cathedral Choir.
In 2002, Ronny became Organist and Director of Music at the RC Parish Church of St Albertus Magnus, Regensburg, where he was in charge of the church choir, choristers, boys' and girls' choir in addition to his weekly duties as organist.
After graduating, Ronny went to Exeter where he took an M.A. degree in “English Cathedral Music” at the University whilst being Choral Scholar at the Cathedral.
From September 2005, Ronny was Organ Scholar at Bristol Cathedral as well as Organist at Clifton College until September 2006 when he took up the post of Assistant Organist at St Woolos Cathedral. In addition to his cathedral duties, Ronny enjoyed teaching Music at Bristol Grammar School and directing the Choristers there. In September 2007, Ronny moved to London where he is now Organist and Teacher of Music at King's College School, Wimbledon. Playing the organ for the various school services, accompanying and assisting in training the Chamber Choir, directing the Junior College Singers, teaching academic music lessons as well as all the school's organ students are the various aspects of Ronny's position at this traditional day school for boys.
In June 2008, Ronny was appointed Assistant Director of Music at St George's Church Hanover Square (London). The church has a full-time professional choir and a strong choral tradition. George Frederick Handel was a regular worshipper at St George's which is now home to the annual Handel Festival.
Ronny has recorded several CDs with organ and choir music on German record labels and has been performing on television and radio, both in Germany and the UK. He has given organ recitals in Germany, Holland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the United States and Mexico.
In February 2008, Ronny became Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.
Being fascinated by organ improvisation, Ronny took part in several master classes on that subject, having studied with Olivier Latry, Naji Hakim, Anders Bondeman, Jos van der Kooy, Hans Haselböck, Loïc Maillié, David Briggs and Daniel Roth.
Ronny was a finalist in the prestigious Organ Improvisation Competition in St Albans in July 2009 and won the 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize in the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Biarritz in November 2009.
