Choir Tour to Paris
Following last year’s successful tour to Germany, the Chamber Choir embarked this year on a concert tour to Paris. The boys and men of the choir left Whitgift on Saturday 16th July and travelled to Paris on the Eurostar. On Sunday morning, the choir sang Mass at Saint Sulpice – a church particularly well known to organists due to its connection with Charles Marie Widor and Marcel Dupré. In addition to singing the Ordinary of the Eucharist, the choir also sang the Lacrimosa from Mozart’s Requiem in memory of those who lost their lifes in the terrorist attack in Nice a couple of days before. After the Mass, the boys had lunch in the shadow of the Eiffel tower, after which they set off by coach to visit Versailles Palace. The following day, the boys went to Disneyland – and even Mr Krippner could be persuaded to go on at least one ride! The tour finished with the Chamber Choir giving a concert at Notre Dame Cathedral. What a privilege for the choir to be able to sing in such an eminent place – and they surely have done Whitgift proud!
